The Lighting Captain is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the lighting inventory and the associated storage areas inside of BROS HQ. The Lighting Captain is responsible for organizing and maintaining any lighting-related needs for BROS during and outside of production and for events, including lights, power cables, truss, rigging, show computers, show software & related accessories.
  • Works with the show Department Leaders/Designers & Production Director on a show by show basis to determine the physical needs of the department. This includes the use of any equipment in storage, including acquisitions of new equipment.
  • Works with the Production and Operations Director to organize any buildout projects needed for lighting storage.
  • Leads tech volunteer days on a monthly basis where volunteers are enlisted for organization, storage and rejuvenation of BROS lighting inventory and spaces.
  • Leads lighting skills workshops and organizes teachers for workshops aka “Tech Rodeo” for development of volunteer skills
  • Works with Production and Operations Director to to purchase necessary lighting equipment or tools & supplies related to maintenance and storage.
  • Maintains inventory of all lighting equipment.
  • Maintains system for renting/loaning existing lighting equipment to members of BROS and other companies in collaboration with the Production and Operations Director.
  • Has agency to dispose of or sell any unwanted lighting equipment
  • Maintains a clean, safe and well-stocked workspace.
  • Other duties as assigned.
