Baltimore Rock Opera Society is seeking writers for our Fall 2026 show, a Concert Opera written to the music of D&D-themed Prog Rock band Bardic Compass. What do we mean by Concert Opera? This will be a lean, mean, stripped-down production that focuses on the music and the band. It will be a concept album brought to life - a rock concert with a story to tell. We’ll build a single stage set that prominently features the live band, and produce a ~45 minute stage show with actors, dancers, and tech. The music and lyrics are already done, the writers' job will be to help arrange it into a cohesive, narrative script that can be performed by actors and/or dancers, possibly adding minimal dialogue to connect between songs as needed.
Join Bardic Compass in telling a tale from a fantasy realm which mirrors the struggles we know from our own. A group of companions struggles against a powerful tyranny which threatens to cover the realm in oppression. A young mother who traded service to a dark goddess in exchange for her daughter's protection... An half-orc looking to reclaim his true identity from a shadowed past... A tiny druid who protects nature's interests, but is not to be underestimated... A dark elf prince from a deposed noble house seeking to reclaim their pride. The Council of Vexis seeks adventurers for a quest of dire need. Will they answer the call?
