swanktacular 2021

Our annual fundraiser and semi-formal gala, the Swanktacular, has been an annual staple of BROS' schedule since 2014.

Every spring we don our fanciest duds, scarf delicious grub from local businesses, quaff numerous libations, and rock into the night with our members, supporters, and friends.

Every year features a theme, musical performances, as well as live entertainment. Truly, it is the swankiest night of the year, and one of the best parties in Baltimore.

It's the Battle of the Bands!

Our new fall production format, the Concert Opera, features a live band as the center of the production, creating a live show with a single stage set, around 60 minutes, to create an experience in between a rock show and a theatrical performance.

Last year’s fall show Ceremony of the Faceless paired the bands Blightbeast and Revvnant with a narrative dance performance. This year’s Garbage Quest will present an interactive video game inspired adventure scored by Garbage Masher, an 8-bit heavy metal duo. These collaborations were selected by the BROS Artistic Council to kick off the new format. For next year’s fall show, we need YOU!

For the 2026 Fall Concert Opera, we’re putting out a call for an epic musical collaborator. This could be a band with existing material, or a new group you’re putting together just for this project. Submissions are open now, we're looking for acts from all over the BROS and Baltimore community. When submissions close, the Artistic Council will choose a few artists to go head to head in a Battle of the Bands, where the community will choose a winner.

Since this is a faster creation process, the submission form will ask for demo recordings, and the Battle of the Bands will include musical performances. Once selected, the winner will join a BROS writing team to create a new stage production built on their existing music or new compositions. Bands don’t need to start out with a story or show concept, but ideas are welcome! We encourage all genres and types of musical acts to apply.

HOW IT WORKS

SUBMIT YOUR DEMO:

Record a video or audio of your band performing one song. This doesn't have to be perfect, but use it as a chance to show off your chops and stage presence!

PREPARE YOUR SET:

The BROS Artistic Council will select a handful of contenders ready for the stage. These finalists will compete on November 1 in a back-to-back stage performance, performing a 15-minute set and/or pitch for the BROS community of rock-n-roll weirdos.

CREATE YOUR MASTERPIECE:

The BROS community will vote on our next collaborator, and the winner will team up with BROS members on a new Fall rock opera.
